Lessons in the end

>let me now continue

your existence, and mine, depend on certain truths.

these truths may differ between us but some we share as common.

the common truth that we share as basis for our continuing

existence is UNCERTAINTY.

this UNCERTAINTY gives us another one crucial truth that is closely linked

to our existence.

UNCERTAINTY gives us DESIRE.

in other words, we continue to exist because DESIRE exists within us.

and DESIRE exists because UNCERTAINTY is one of the very few truths

in life.

if our lives are fixed by fate, if our very actions had been determined

from the moment of our birth to the last breath, there will be no point

in living our lives.

if we know exactly what we are going to have, if we know

that 2,251 days after we are born we will be given an ube ice cream in a

cone, we will have no DESIRES worth sustaining. we will know exactly what

we are going to get and exactly what we are not going to get.

but the FUTURE is UNCERTAIN, and we have DESIRES.

these DESIRES make up who we are. these DESIRES

are the shadows inside us that could either turn out to be beautiful,

or something dark, something monstrous that could devour from within.

fortunately, there is another truth.

and that truth is CHOICE.

Ilovesmith: wow, that's brilliant. it has opened many windows that for so long i have closed - it has refreshed my entire being.

thank you smith...

Balthasar: LESSONS I LEARNED FROM SMITH:

1. That message boards/internet are perfect forum for individuals whose aim is to gain gratification and sense of satisfaction using illusion or distortion of reality while contributing nothing of any value.

2. That these individuals are SERIAL attention-seekers. More than anything else they want attention (posting of freak pictures). It doesn't matter what type of attention they get, positive or negative, as long as they can provoke someone into paying them attention.

3. that the ANGER AND IRRITATION of these individuals become apparent when they come across with someone who can see through them to spot the weak, inadequate, immature, dysfunctional aggressive individual behind the mask.

4. they are happy seeing you react. It doesn't matter how you react, the fact that they have provoked a reaction is a sign that their attempt at control have been successful.

THANK YOU SMITH...I AM ALWAYS GRATEFUL.

>LESSONS FROM THE SO-UNCERTAIN REALITIES OF THE PHYSICAL WORLD:

SHITTY THINGS HAPPEN. BUT NO MATTER HOW SHITTY THINGS GET, IT'S STILL BETTER THAN IF NOTHING NEW HAPPENS AT ALL.

HUMANS ARE STUPID AND HAS THE POWER TO DESTROY ITSELF. AND YET, IT MANAGED TO SURVIVE SO FAR, AND HAS THAT WONDERFUL THING CALLED "FREE WILL"

THE WORLD IS SO BIG AND YOU ARE JUST AN INSIGNIFICANT DUST IN IT, AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. BUT YOU DO NOT NEED TO PROVE YOURSELVES TO ENJOY LIFE.

SOONER OR LATER, YOU WILL DIE AND WILL BE FORGOTTEN WITHIN A FEW YEARS. STILL, YOU LIVED AND ENJOYED LIFE, AND THAT IS A PRIVILEDGE ONLY THE VERY FEW HAVE BEEN GIVEN.

YOU ARE STILL LUCKY DESPITE ALL YOUR MISFORTUNES.

Ilovesmith: yes we are, and hope all know about it.

thanks smith.

Serenity: That's simply the beauty of man's life...How about the life of ones and zeros, are there lives beautiful and with meaning?

>there is till uncertainty. one thing we share in common.

and with uncertainty, comes desire.

there is just one very important thing that is

present in your world but not in mine,

and that is TIME.

you have a sense of BEGINNINGS and ENDINGS.

and the certainty that all things will eventually end.

that is a gift. because you learn that you will exist only for

a definite amount of time, that a moment will come

and you will not exist anymore.

movies are wonderful because it ends -- nobody wants to see a movie

that goes on forever.

the same is true about your lives.

it is the END that makes it beautiful and dear.
